Join us for an afternoon of hilarity and history as The Rye Arts Center honors the life and work of the immortal Ogden Nash, who was born and raised right here in Rye.  Frances Sternhagen and John Cunningham are the distinguished readers of Ogden’s fun-filled poems.  We’ll also have songs from Danielle Hager and other, art, and an interview with some very special guests.  Come and celebrate the enduring wit and pioneering talents of one of the most successful poets of the twentieth century.

Friday, Saturday, & Sunday – Call for dates

This workshop is inspired by the great portraits in landscapes of Jocquin Sorrolla. Utilizing air, light, texture; the weather, the time of day: an exciting group of elements structured within the framework of painting a self portrait within a landscape, all make for a great day of painting. Learn color: value, hue and chroma, and composition. We will work towards keeping it honest to the individual painter, finding your voice within the context of contemporary realism. Life size work is encouraged, this workshop is open to all levels. Each day of the workshop, students will be encouraged to create two paintings – one in the morning, and one in the afternoon. Note: this workshop will take place outdoors, site TBD but close to RAC. Students can work in medium of their choice – please call for a suggested supply list.

A focus on art movements, history and culture (all appropriate to the respective age-group) will be incorporated into the following classes: drawing, painting, mixed media, printmaking, creative movement, storytelling, music, dance and more.
