Opening Reception:
January 8, 2012 from 3-5 pm
An exhibition of artwork in various two-dimensional media that examines the role of portraiture in contemporary art. Presenting portraits, in a variety of styles, that go beyond merely a record of their subject but convey a deeper meaning or vision of the artist. In this unique exhibition artists from all over the country come together to show how diverse contemporary portraiture is.

NEW! Expressionist Portrait Painting with Larry D’Amico
Adult/Teen Saturday, 1:30 – 4:30 pm
WORKSHOP January 28
Inspired by masters such as Matisse and Van Gogh, this workshop will focus
on painting a portrait in the Expressionist manner – painting in a less realistic
way, and more in a way that represents mood and feeling. Larry D’Amico
will work with you as you explore color and more. Please call for a supply

NEW! Portrait Painting with Manu Saluja
Adult/Teen Sunday, 9:00 – 4:00 pm
WORKSHOP February 5
This workshop offers the tools you’ll need to start and proceed on your portrait
painting with confidence. Topics covered are structure and proportions of the head,
light and shadow, color and edge handling as we work from the live model. While
the workshop’s approach will be wet-in-wet or “alla prima”, we will also discuss
indirect methods of painting. Demonstrations and lecture included.
