For 50+ years, The Rye Arts Center has been an anchor for a vibrant and thriving arts culture.  Committed to serving people of all backgrounds and abilities, each year we deliver seven need-based arts outreach programs to historically underserved, economically and ethnically diverse communities, serving approximately 2,000 children, teens, and senior citizens in our region.

 Our signature need-based programs include:

The Head Start Arts Education Program, which emphasizes creativity and outside-the-box thinking in weekly classes for 170 preschoolers from Port Chester, NY, who qualify based on need.

Famous Artists in the Port Chester Schools, which delivers interactive lectures by credentialed art historians, art educators, and specially-trained parent docents in Port Chester’s elementary school classrooms, providing tools for students to evaluate and interpret visual art.

After School Arts Programs specially-designed for at-risk students.  Participating schools and organizations include Port Chester High School, the JFK Magnet School and the Don Bosco Community Center in Port Chester, and the Hispanic Resource Center in Mamaroneck.

Programs for Seniors, including a new series of dance classes for people with Parkinson’s disease and our Music for Seniors program where our students perform for senior citizens at area nursing homes.

Need-Based Scholarships where the cost of the program may prevent an individual or family from participating, The RAC offers 50% scholarships for children to attend our summer creative arts program.

Your contribution to The Rye Arts Center’s 2012 Annual Appeal would support these initiatives, in addition to our inspiring gallery exhibits, one-of-a-kind programs and lectures, musical performances, and arts education in our community.  Please give generously.
