Artist Talk with Lucette Runsdorf: Wednesday, May 4, 10:00 am

FullSizeRender (1)Hidden is a solo exhibition of new mixed media works by Lucette Runsdorf.

Artist, Lucette Runsdorf employs a variety of different, and sometimes random, materials to create her art. Everyday items such as old letters, photographs, and books are used throughout her work and layered with other objects and colors to create different textures, shapes, and themes. Runsdorf’s use of mixed media allows her to explore and manipulate tangible items and challenge the relationship between connections and separations and past and present experiences.

Many of her pieces are emotionally autobiographical. Lucette was born in Belgium and moved to the United States during World War II. Her perceptions and memories of that period in our collective history is evident in her art. She brings a sense of nostalgia and yearning, but at the same time hope to her work. In each piece, Lucette creates a contained visual environment that invites the viewer in to discover and uncover her story and reflect on their own narrative.

Upon her retirement as a practicing psychotherapist, she focused her attention on her passion for collage. She found her voice in mixed media and continues to create, unearthing new objects and experimenting with her art.

Lucette is active as both an artist and a Board Member of The Woodstock Artists Association. She has exhibited both nationally and internationally and her work has been presented in several exhibitions including Rhine Hudson Exchange in Cologne Germany, Salmongundi Club, Wall & Rah Gallery, The Carter Burden Center, and the Donnell Library. Her work has also been featured in numerous group shows, a selection of which includes The Woodstock Artists Association, The Woodstock Guild, and The Arts Society of Kingston. She has also won a number of awards and recognitions.

Gallery hours are Monday 9:00 am – 3:00 pm; Tuesday – Friday 9:00 am – 7:00 pm; Saturday 9:00 am – 3:00 pm.
