The Rye Arts Center – Celebrating Women: Inspiring Women-Led Events in honor of Women’s History Month
Rye, NY – As Women's History Month approaches, The Rye Arts Center is proud to present a series of engaging women-led events scheduled throughout March, spilling into early April, capturing the many achievements and contributions women make through the arts!
The Rye Arts Center invites you to attend workshops, talks, and an exhibit designed to encompass and celebrate how women shape our world through the arts and empower the greater community by sharing their experiences.
First on the roster is a workshop titled "Instagram For Beginners" with Liz Woods, scheduled for February 27, 2024, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. Liz Woods, the founder of Ryemarkable Moms, will share practical insights and strategies for crafting compelling Instagram content, including learning to use Canva for graphic design!
March 6, 2024, marks the opening reception of "The Art of Survival," an art exhibit and opening reception featuring spoken word led by PEHT. This collaborative effort between The Rye Arts Center and Partnership to End Human Trafficking aims to honor survivors in their resilience and healing through artistic expression. This inspiring and moving exhibit will be open for viewing in The Rye Arts Center gallery from March 6th through March 22nd.
March 9th brings a thought-provoking book talk centered around Shirley Sharma's children's story, "Mama." The event, free for all attendees, will explore themes of environmental stewardship, maternal instincts, and how nature supports itself.
Kicking off April events is a presentation led by Debbie Wells on American Women Artists on April 3, 2024. Wells will shed light on the significant contributions of women artists throughout our history, offering a comprehensive view of their impact on the art world.
On April 13th, visitors can immerse themselves in the vibrant show and Artist Talk on Silk Paintings: The Works of Berenice Pliskin. Held at Gallery B, the exhibition on view from March 6th through April 19th promises to transport attendees through a journey of color and storytelling; Berenice offers insights into the details of her artistic processes.
